Wednesday, March 22nd we will hold the 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade Math/Literacy Night. The event will start at 6:30 pm. Your child will guide you through a variety of Math and Literacy activities that they participate in during the school day. We will have a lot of information to share with you about what students can do at home to help improve Math and Literacy skills. Prizes will be raffled at the end of the event. Everyone who attends will automatically be put into the raffle. All attendees will check in at a table stationed outside the cafeteria before entering the event. We look forward to seeing you all there!!
Scholastic has a charity project named "All for Books", it helps to raise money to purchase books for children and libraries in need. We will have a coin drive on Tuesday, March 21st to help raise money for this project. Any money we raise Scholastic will match and we also receive credit toward new books for our library. The classroom that brings in the most change on Tuesday will win! Students in the winning classroom will be able to get a FREE book at the book fair and the classroom teacher will be able to pick out five new books for their in-classroom library.
Our in-house book fair has started today and will run until March 24th. Students can shop during their regularly scheduled library special. Flyers went home last week with a sample of the books that will be available through the book fair. This is a fundraiser for our school's library. Money raised this year will go toward new biographies and a digital library with fiction ebooks.
Our Scholastic Book Fair is almost here but you can shop early online. Visit scholastic.com/fair and look for Jewett Street. This is a fundraiser for our school's library. We are hoping to add new non-fiction titles to our collection and start a digital library for ebooks. Our online book fair starts Wednesday, March 15th and will continue through March 28th.
There will be a literacy event for parents and students in Pre-k through 2nd grade on Wednesday, January 25th. The event will be from 6 pm to 7 pm here at the school. Parents will be engaged in a discussion on "just right books" in the library while children will be involved in different activity stations in the gym. For parents with students in grades 3, 4 or 5 keep your eye out for information that will be sent home for a future literacy event for those grades. Information will be sent home via Wednesday envelopes.
There will be no school the week of December 26th through January 2nd. School will re-open on Tuesday, January 3rd.
Students will be released at 11:15 am on Friday, December 23rd. Please plan accordingly.
There will be no school on Friday, November 11th due to the Veterans' Day holiday.
There will be no school on Tuesday, November 8th due to the fact that many schools are used as polling stations for the election. This day will also be used as a Teacher Professional Development day.
Jewett's annual Open House will be this Wednesday, September 28th. Pre-k Open House starts at 5:30 pm and will end at 6:30 pm. K-5 Open House starts at 6:00 pm and will end at 7:00 pm. We hope to see you all there!
