Today's Word of the Day is HERITAGE. Heritage is a noun meaning a person’s unique, inherited sense of family identity.

Heritage comes from the Latin word hereditare, meaning "condition or state transmitted from ancestors". Although Latin is no longer spoken, it is the base of what we call the Romance Languages, including Spanish, French, and Italian. That's why many words in French look similar to their Italian or Spanish translations.

In Spanish, the word heritage is "Herencia", and in Portuguese it is "Heranca".
