128.1 Interdisciplinary Credit to Meet Graduation Requirements

The Manchester School District recognizes that graduation requirements for high school diplomas can be met by awarding credit for course work earned in different content areas.  The High School Principals shall collaboratively determine which courses shall satisfy graduation requirements using interdisciplinary credit subject to the following conditions:

  1. No more than half of the graduation requirements in a subject area may be earned through interdisciplinary credit, except that the ½ unit in arts education, the ½ unit in computer education, the ½ unit in basic business and economic education and the ¼ unit in health education may be earned through interdisciplinary credit.

  2. A course used to meet graduation requirements through interdisciplinary credit shall be counted only once.

  3. Graduation requirements met by interdisciplinary credit shall be clearly designated on student transcripts.

  4. The High School Principal may approve a particular course for interdisciplinary credit if he/she determines that:

    1. The course has been designed by a team consisting of faculty from each subject area involved, guidance personnel and the high school’s administration.

    2. The course addresses the objectives for the subject area in which the credit is to be counted.
