114.1 Pay/Benefit Coverage for Employees Called to Active Duty

The Board recognizes that employees of the District may be called to active duty for the military during their tenure in the District. As such, any employee who is called to active duty shall be entitled to the following benefits while on active duty status.

  1. The District shall provide the employee with a position upon his/her return from active duty.

  2. During the initial reporting period the employee shall be paid in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement or with City Ordinance 33.080.

  3. Upon receipt of the employee's military orders, the District shall provide health and dental insurance for a period of up to twelve (12) months.

  4. Upon receipt of the employee's military orders, the District shall make up the difference in salary, if the military salary is less than the employee's current salary, for a period of up to twelve (12 months).

  5. If an employee remains on active duty for longer than twelve (12) months, the District shall review each case on an individual basis.
